2017 Community Advocacy & Fundraising

Fort Bragg

We love our pets here at New Trend and are so proud to support Chuck and the team at Mendocino Coast Humane Society. Started by a group of coastal residents in 1998 with an adoption truck and moving into their new Shelter in 2001, it's the MCHS mission to "contribute to a better life for animals and to inspire public awareness of animals' needs". Offering adoption and shelter services to medical care, spay/neuter services and education, MCHS is a tremendous assist to the community of Fort Bragg. Having had the great privilege of spending time at the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods and working with Liz, Monica & Chris, the fabulous Director's of the program, we are so pumped up by this program and its impact for the youth and families of Humboldt County. The Club serves over 4,000 kids from 6-18 between their Clubhouse in Eureka and Teen Centers in Eureka & McKinleyville, serving as a safe place for kids to learn, play and develop citizenship and leadership skills. Their vision inspires us as they "envision healthy, empowered and engaged youth who appreciate and respect themselves, each other, their families, the community and their environment." Having several military veterans working for us, Operation Tango Mike and their mission to "send support and care packages to our troops and strive to support their families and to honor all veterans" hits close to home. Consider joining one of their monthly packing parties at Umpqua Bank in Lakeport every 3rd Thursday of the month! After spending time with the families being served by the Raven Project this past December, there was no question that we wanted to do all we could to get the word out about this extraordinary organization. Its powerful mission to "improve the mental and physical well-being, provide basic survival supplies, create a network of resources and referrals, support and advocate, provide positive role models and employ the at-risk youth within Humboldt County" shows an incredible, dynamic, critically important service this is to support. To learn more about how to volunteer, donate or obtain services from Raven Project visit our McKinleyville store or click 'More' below.

Ask any associate at a New Trend Wireless store and we will be eager to show you our pets; they are just a part of our family! We're so inspired by Mendo Shelter Pets Rescue who serve as an extension to the Ukiah Animal Shelter as well as other shelters in the area to "ensure that all animals in need get the chance to thrive in a loving home." They accomplish this by taking a community approach involving animals lovers (like us) as well as other rescue groups and shelters to connect animals that are homeless or in need with a safe, healthy environment. To make a donation or learn more come to our Ukiah store by Raley's or click 'More' below.

Feeding the hungry in the Mendocino County area, no questions asked, 4-night a week is a passion for Cindy Savage, program director, and her work meets a great need in the Willits community. We are proud to get the word out about Willits Daily Bread who serves an average of 60 meals per day to children, the elderly, homeless thanks to community donations. With money running out at the end of the month with those on fixed incomes the end of the month brings in 75 to 80 people meaning an even greater need for food.
